A Nativity play for 2022
After the successes of last year’s ‘Refugee Nativity’ and recognising that the refugee crisis is still as acute as ever, Vita Nova, a community theatre group for those in recovery from addiction, have teamed up with the ESOL (English as a Second Language) department at Bournemouth and Poole College to rehearse and present a new version of The Nativity. This very special performance of ‘Refugee Nativity’ will primarily be performed by cast members for whom English is a second, third or fourth language.

Black History Month 2022 – and Louise won an award!
As we reflect on this year’s BHM and its theme of change, DEED, and many of the organisations we work with, are trying to change people’s perceptions of the world around them.
Louise’s talk at BCP Council’s BHM event on the 5th of October led by the BCP Race & Cultural Diversity Staff Network, emphasised that black history is local history and asked the audience to reimagine our relationship with the past. Whilst there, Louise received an award for her work promoting black history in Dorset.

DEED’s Sarah Wise will introduce the ‘PLACE: Paths to learning – Active Community ‘Exploration’ project which brings together 4 approaches from 4 partners to explore Place-Based Learning through P4C, Questing, Therapeutic and Natural Gardening and Local to Global action.
Rebecca Bone, Headteacher at Winterslow Primary, will then share what they have achieved and the next steps on their journey to support young people’s learning about environmental sustainability.

Dorset Race Equality Council (DREC) seeks a Chief Officer on a permanent basis. However, a long-term secondment may be considered. Dorset REC works across Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole to challenge racism and achieve a fairer and just society. The Chief Officer (CO) leads the work to liaise with the different groups, public bodies and minority ethnic communities.
Damers School pupils celebrate international green credentials
Huge congratulations to everyone at Damers First School! It’s so powerful to see children taking what they have learned in school out into the community, inspiring other young people and adults to get involved too! Projects have included litter picking, writing letters to their MP and creating wildflower meadows! Damers First School, in Dorchester, has received the 'Echo Schools Green Flag' accreditation with Distinction.

We had a fantastic day yesterday with the Eco Team at Allenbourn Middle School on an after school litter pick. What an inspiring group of pupils, led brilliantly by Cheryl James, teacher of science and maths and our PLACE project lead teacher!
We delivered an Introduction to Global Learning training session with trainee teachers in Poole Scitt
During Introduction to Global Learning training session with trainee teachers in Poole Scitt we explored a range of resources together, discovered the multiple impacts of the life of a single-use coffee cup, diamond ranked the 9Rs and sorted photos of India and the UK to challenge negative stereotypes.
We had a great time delivering our consumerism and change-making workshops to pupils at Dumpton School
Our staff member Sarah and new Trustee Jenny had a very busy Friday morning delivering workshops on change-making and consumerism with over 140 pupils and staff at Dumpton School in Wimborne as part of their Earthshot Prize Day.

‘Here’s What She Said To Me’ - a new production by Utopia Theatre, comes to Dorset
Utopia Theatre will perform their production ‘Here’s What She Said To Me’ live in Portesham on the 12th of March and Motcombe on the 13th. Utopia is one of the UK’s leading African theatre companies and is eagerly anticipating its first tour since the national lockdown in 2020. Returning to touring with energy and ambition.
