WhatSUP? Rethinking Single Use Plastic Children’s Workshops
We are excited to see so many young people now engaged in issues related to climate change, plastic pollution, the oceans, and biodiversity loss. And while these are all big, complex and interconnected issues, there are local actions we can all take to make a difference.
Through our workshops and assemblies for pupils and young people we can help your pupils, staff and wider school community to explore and ‘rethink’ the use of Single Use Plastic (SUP). We investigate the impact of our disposable culture through images, activities, and resources and seek to find alternatives that are more sustainable. Our aim is to inspire everyone to take positive action to reduce, refill and reuse, and to play a part in improving our local and global environment.
We can tailor our workshops to suit the ages of your young people and are happy working with a small community group as well as a whole school. Please contact us to discuss details.
Resources
We have a box of Recycled Toys and a collection of Recycled Items which can be borrowed and used in school. These collections contain items from around the world which are made from recycled materials, such as shoes made from tyres, hats made from plastic shopping bags, notepaper made from elephant poo, and jewellery made from old flip flops.
We also have a range of books and teaching packs suitable for all key stages.
