We helped Allenbourn Middle School’s amazing Eco Team on their litter pick

We had a fantastic day yesterday with the Eco Team at Allenbourn Middle School on an after school litter pick.

What an inspiring group of pupils, led brilliantly by Cheryl James, teacher of science and maths and our PLACE project lead teacher! Having identified places of happiness and sadness in the school grounds the Eco Team pupils decided that a litter pick would be a positive action to take, to not only help the wildlife but also make the school look cleaner and greener. There were 6 pupils and 3 adults picking for only 35 minutes in and around the school entrance and along the nearby road and it was surprising how much rubbish was collected! Single-use drink and food packaging, sweet wrappers and cigarette butts were the most numerous. We can’t wait for the next one but are really hoping people start to take more care and bin their rubbish.
