Drain Art created by pupils of Heathlands Primary and Mudeford Junior schools
Pupils at Heatherlands Primary school in Poole and Mudeford Junior school in Christchurch have been exploring the impact of litter on the local and global environment.
Working with Sarah from DEED, and Mirek from LucanArt, groups of Year 5 pupils have designed artwork for drains in their school grounds to encourage everyone to look down and consider where their litter goes when it is thrown ‘away’.
Free event – One World Festival in Dorchester
The Dorset One World Festival is a free local event to celebrate the diversity of cultures in Dorchester through music, dance, food and activities. The event will feature a programme of both traditional and modern cultural activities performed by local communities.

Vita Nova & Friends are presenting an adaption of the traditional story of the nativity reworked to highlight the current refugee crisis. Written by Sharon Coyne this is an extremely powerful performance put together with many messages to hear.

The ‘Brown Babies’ exhibition tells the story of Black GIs in Britain during the war from the perspective of the white women and Black GI's and the children who were born as a result of these relationships.
Hopefool – a play for peace at The Black Cherry, Boscombe
Hopefool is a play for young people and adults that promotes peace in a time of conflict. For young people, especially witnessing the horror of war from around the world, can make people feel hopeless. Hopefool is about reminding people that we do have a voice and we can make a difference however small in promoting unity and love.

Free student workshops focussed on the impact of litter on our environment
These workshops will lead to creative ideas and art designs being installed in the local community to raise awareness about the issues of pollution.
This work follows on from a successful project last year with ‘A’ Level Graphic Design students at QE school, who designed their own ‘drain art’ which was installed in Wimborne town centre in time for the Wimborne Folk Festival, to raise awareness about the impact of litter on the rivers and sea.

Megan McCubbin is one of the nation’s leading wildlife presenters, and one of the faces of BBC Two’s Springwatch, Autumnwatch and Winterwatch. She’ll be at Queen Elizabeth School on the 15th of October talking about her love of wildlife and why we all need to protect it and signing books. There'll be eco displays and stalls too and we’re delighted to say we’ll be there, do pop along and say hello.
