This short event will bring together educators, students, researchers and policymakers to launch 'The Case for Global Learning'. Everyone is welcome to join.

WHEN: Thursday 18th July 5 - 6 pm
WHERE: Zoom

Colleagues across and beyond The Global Learning Network have developed The Case for Global Learning as a call to arms to address the issues facing our planet! This paper puts forward a clear and urgent message from more than 30 educational organisations from across the UK: educators are struggling to address a growing roster of complex and global issues, and swift action is required to help them equip learners with the skills and knowledge they need to develop as global citizens.

They are calling for a national strategy on Global Learning, to bring the UK back to the forefront of the practice of this transformational educational approach. You will hear from a range of speakers and there will be ample time for questions.

Key messages/call to action for the meeting

  • Greater recognition of the importance of global learning for children and young people(others).

  • A coherent UK wide framework to build on the pockets of great work that have been  inspiring and equipping young people with the understanding to play their part in tackling some of the most critical global challenges of our time.

  • Clear evidence of the benefits to teachers and pupils, enthusing and engaging them in the classroom and beyond and providing greater meaning and relevance to the curriculum.

  • Highlight the undervaluing/underfunding of this increasingly important pillar of education.

  • Urge all attendees to lobby politicians and other funders to recognise the value of this education and gather to build a framework for future success.

You will be sent a link to the paper in advance of the event once you’ve registered.
