We wanted to let you know about this exciting project Sonic Landscapes of Colour. Somin, a 23 year old mixed-heritage English-Indian sound artist who was born and grew up in Exeter, Devon is currently looking for 10 young POC to interview and 5 ‘non-western’ traditional instrumentalists based in Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall for her project Sonic Landscapes of Colour.

SOLD, the winner of Best Ensemble Edinburgh Fringe 2019 & Show of the Week VAULT Festival 2020, will be performed at Halstock Village Hall and Sturminster Marshall Village Halls at the end of November.

Throughout October we will be celebrating the lives of key figures in Dorset’s Black History. Often we learn about history through the role of people who have helped bring about change. The names Thomas Lewis Johnson, Robert Wedderburn, Belle Davis, Lilian Bader or John Stockley might not be familiar yet but their lives, and the lives of other key figures, are well worth knowing about.

Our friends at Practical Action offer fantastic free resources that you can include in your lesson plans for STEM subjects this term.

DEED and the Consortium of Development Education Centres (CoDEC) offer practical support for action on sustainability in schools, based around the 4 Cs: Campus, Curriculum, Community and Culture. We bring our significant experience from integrating global perspectives to approaches to exploring complexity in the classroom.

This incredibly important workshop for teachers and TAs of all Key Stages is happening this Thursday (23rd September) via zoom. It’s completely free to join and is hosted by our friends at DDE. We can’t recommend it enough.

‘Planet Earth Needs Our Help’ is sending out an SOS to all Primary schools in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole to take part in a creative exhibition in November (Actions Speak Louder), coinciding with the COP26 Climate Summit.
