With the sun shining and the days getting longer, our local music and arts festivals are beginning once again, and this summer, we’re excited to be hosting an event of our own… and you’re all invited!

Global Fair

Celebrate all that is global and fair!

Saturday 27 June 2026, 11 am – 4 pm
Walford Mill, Wimborne, BH21 1NL

Discover cultures, share traditions and learn about the environment at our free, family-friendly, fun Global Fair. Enjoy a day of global celebration with West African storytelling and music with Noah Messomo, a samba drumming workshop with Miki Cruz and Indian dancing with BPC Indian Community for the whole family to enjoy.

Free children’s arts and crafts activities will be running throughout the day, led by Dorset Ukrainian Community, BPC Indian Community, and Caroline Parrott from Walford Mill.

Local schools including Wimborne First, Allenbourn Middle, and QE will be showcasing students’ work focused on caring for the environment, promoting biodiversity, and helping tackle climate change.

Be sure to visit DEED’s stall, filled with culturally diverse storybooks, as well as Wimborne’s FairGround Shop's wonderful selection of Fairtrade goodies.

You’ll also have the chance to meet inspiring local and global environmental organisations, including Planet Wimborne and Wimborne and Colehill Fair Trade Community Group, and discover ways to get involved in protecting our planet.

In between activities, you can enjoy delicious food and drinks from Little Pickle at the Mill.

This event is part of Wimborne Town of Culture 2026.

Discover global cultures through music, dance, food, and activities. Enjoy live performances from local communities, featuring music from Ukraine, Syria, Kurdistan, reggae, and more. Explore the Global Food Village with delicious dishes from around the world, plus hands-on workshops, crafts, and family-friendly activities for all ages.

Bring a Global Festival to your Classroom this Summer

If you want to bring the spirit of the festivals to your classroom during term time, please think about borrowing our global resource collections from all over the world: Thailand, Gambia, South Africa, Aboriginal Australia, India, Brazil and Mexico, to name a few.  We also have West African musical instrument collections.

We are currently selling our second India resource collection for £50 to create more space in the DEED resource centre at West Moors Middle School. This rich and authentic collection includes resources gathered from life in India, along with books, teaching packs, and some pre-loved traditional clothing.

If you’re interested in beautiful fabrics and classic styles, please contact Louise at education@deed.org.uk to arrange a viewing or purchase. Don’t worry – we still have other India resources available for schools to borrow, including an Indian Home Corner and Hinduism collection.
