The One World Festival is an incredible day of fantastic, free family fun

The Festival is this Saturday, 9th August, from 11 am - 4 pm in the Borough Gardens, Dorchester. It’s a celebration of the diversity of the local cultures through music, dance, food and activities.

There's Cheikh Diop, founding owner and Creative Director of Rhythm Generation, who mastered the craft of making and playing traditional djembe drumming, dance, and other African percussion instruments. Cheikh is a talented and charismatic performer who will get everyone moving.

Gugge 2000 is a street entertainment band based in Bournemouth. Founded in 1998 to recreate the lively ‘Guggen’ style of carnival music, made famous in the streets of Lucerne, Switzerland. We play at events all over the UK and Europe, bringing an upbeat performance with their mixture of brass and percussion.

Salud Botella was born in Spain and based in south-west England, started dancing at the age of eight. She has been schooled in Flamenco, Spanish Classical and Folk, Ballet and Contemporary, as well as training as an actress at the Escuela del Actor in Valencia. Salud draws on her wide-ranging artistic background to perform highly acclaimed and unique one-woman shows combining dance with elements such as poetry, humour, improvised audience interaction and rap.

Grains of Hope are a Ukrainian group whose mission is to enable Ukrainian families to meet up with each other and integrate with the Dorset communities whilst sharing their culture as widely as they can. Some of the children involved are toddlers and this is a way of them to experience their own culture with their older siblings, and mothers. Most Ukrainian fathers remain in Ukraine either maintaining essential services or fighting on the front line. Grains of Hope is a way to remain positive, whilst sharing their Homeland culture with the community that has provided them with safety, shelter, and love at this difficult time.

Angie A/Ram Jam Records is a seasoned performer, she has sung backing vocals with some great artists including Yazz, Shakatak & Olive as well as taking part in ITV's Britain Sings Christmas with Carry and David Grant's choir assembled for the show. Angie's performances include covers ranging from 1940s jazz and the swing era to reggae, soul and recent pop hits.

Mustafa Mamu from the Afrin region of Syria will be sharing a range of Middle Eastern and Kurdish songs. Mustafa is an experienced performer who loves to sing and his infectious delivery is sure to bring a smile and to get people up and dancing.

The Four Corners Collectif are a Bournemouth-based multicultural collective playing African and Caribbean fusion influenced by Afrobeat, soukous, jazz, reggae and more! Upbeat and up-tempo & uplifting!

We can't wait to see them all on the One World Festival stage!
