Teaching sustainability: global education support for teachers and students
We live in unprecedented times facing climate, ecological and cost-of-living crises. It's easy to be overwhelmed by these but solutions do exist.
DEED can support education and innovation by encouraging and inspiring teachers, pupils and communities to develop their understanding of global issues and cultural identity.
This video featuring DEED’s Sarah Wise can be found on Zero Carbon Dorset’s YouTube channel which is packed full of lots of interesting and informative videos, exploring the problems and possible solutions to these issues.
Zero Carbon Dorset says
Just imagine...
"It's 2030 and we have risen to the greatest challenge humanity has ever faced and, as well as preventing environmental breakdown, the solutions we have implemented have started to address many of society’s long-standing issues; the overwhelming majority of the population are leading happier, healthier lives, communities across Dorset are more connected, work-life balances have improved and everywhere the return of nature is evident."
Dorset 2030 is a comprehensive report setting out this vision. Compiled by a team of volunteers, with input from the general public, academics and sustainability professionals it highlights more than 120 local stories of positive steps already taking place by councils, businesses, schools, universities, colleges, and, most importantly, community groups across the county.
While these stories can provide hope about a better future for all, the report also shows how the wider Dorset community needs to build on this at scale and pace to achieve net zero in the timescale climate scientists are setting out; indicated in the Climate Clock below.
