Volunteers needed for our exciting new ‘Where We Can Call Home’ project

This project will tell the stories of people from Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole’s ethnically diverse communities and how their journeys from different places have led them to make BCP their home.

We are leading this project with Citizens Advice BCP to help everyone learn more about BCP's rich, cultural heritage, its challenges and its successes.

Our new community researchers Bea Sieradzka, Natalia Czarnecka, Sharon Muiruri Coyne, Rita El-Gazali and Ebi Sosseh

Our team of community researchers are currently recording interviews that will be shared as part of an exhibition; discussed as part of a podcast; included in learning materials for schools; and form part of an important historical archive that future generations can study and research, building more knowledge, empathy and understanding of local diversity, and its impact and importance in the community.

We need your help to:

  • Listen to and transcribe each community interview

  • Research ethnicity and faith data from Census figures for the BCP area

  • Plan and support exhibitions and events where we engage the wider public with the people and stories of the project.

You will:

  • Meet new people and become part of a wider project team with local organisations, receiving training and support

  • Provide valuable information on the changing dynamics of BCP’s population

  • Hear many life stories from local diverse communities and help create ways to share those stories with others.

I’m a web designer and I love creating beautiful, affordable websites that work hard for small businesses. Simply put, a business needs a website to reach more customers. It needs to look good but it also needs to work hard. That’s where I can help, I build cost-effective, good looking websites that are both mobile and google friendly.
